The Radiators were born during a transitional decade in the history of New Orleans music. The Meters, the premier funk band, had disbanded, the Neville Brothers formed, and in 1980 Professor Longhair, the father of New Orleans R amp;B and spiritual embodiment of Crescent City Soul had passed on. Warner Brothers has officially confirmed today that a prequel to I Am Legend is currently in development. We first mentioned this back in July, when director Francis Lawrence confirmed that they’ve been working on ideas for a prequel. Will Smith will reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville, with Lawrence returning to direct. Although Aaron Neville is often compared to singer Sam Cooke in terms of sheer vocal refinement, he has a voice and style uniquely his own. He is well known as part of the New Orleans sound of the Neville Brothers. A prequel for “I Am Legend” has just been greenlit by the powers that be over at Warner Brothers. According to Variety, Will Smith will reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville and the film will follow the final days of New York before a man-made virus turns everyone into rabid, superhuman zombie mutant creatures. The tenth annual Voodoo Experience in New Orleans, LA, has conjured up R.E.M., Nine Inch Nails and Stone Temple Pilots to headline the three-day fest, taking place in the Big Easy on October 24-26. Native sons the Neville Brothers will also play their hometown festival for the first time. This summer’s Chateau St Michelle concert series includes: Crosby, Stills & Nash, Dr. John and the Neville Brothers, Earth, Wind & Fire, Mark Knopfler, B.B.
